The Housing Authority of the City of Hartford (HACH), Pennrose, LLC, and The Cloud Company, LLC announced today that the Westbrook Village Revitalization will be named Village at Park River when the new community opens this summer. The name reflects the community’s proximity to Park River that flows on the western edge of the property.

Phase I of Village at Park River will include 75 new units, 80 percent of which will be set aside for households with incomes up to 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). The remaining 20 percent will be rented at market rate. The second phase that is already under construction will include an additional 60 units, 75 percent of which will be set aside for households with incomes up to 60 percent of the AMI; 25% will be rented at market rate.

"This project has always been about more than replacing outdated affordable housing,” said Annette Sanderson, executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Hartford. “It’s been about creating a vibrant new community where residents can live, shop and do business. This new name celebrates that rebirth and new sense of place."

A mixed-use commercial component of the revitalization is planned for an approximately 10-acre section at the southern edge of the 40-acre site bordering Albany Avenue. Commercial tenants envisioned for that portion of the project include a pharmacy, restaurant, retail stores and an office and/or programmatic academic space for the University of Hartford. Additional space is earmarked for office and/or residential use. JDA Development Co is a partner in the development of the commercial space.
