Pennrose recently completed the company’s first children’s book drive to provide new and gently used books to residents at family properties throughout the Pennrose portfolio. Over 4,000 books were donated by Pennrose employees and family members, including a donation of nearly 2,500 by an employee’s spouse and her fellow school teachers.

The initiative kicked off at the 2019 Pennrose Conference in May and extended to book collection events in each of the regions and was coordinated by the Pennrose Reaching Out (PRO) committee.

“Children throughout our communities will be greatly impacted by the huge response we had to this initiative,” said Mark H. Dambly, President of Pennrose. “We are always looking for ways to expand the reach of the Pennrose Foundation and the PRO activities.”

Books were divided by reading level and distributed to properties based on the number and ages of children of residents at each property. The Pittsburgh/Ohio region won a contest for the most books donated by a region.
